‘Why Teach?’ talks

Our headline teaching talk is a very popular choice for any student considering teaching as a viable career. We cover everything from what it takes to be a teacher, the application process and the many routes into teaching. We even bring along a current teacher trainee, so they can give their experience of applying and studying on a teaching course.

We are happy to speak to any students interested in teaching, although we are striving to speak to those who are under-represented in the teaching world. Males in primary teaching and ethnic minority groups have been identified as under-represented and we would like to focus our delivery here.

Interested? Contact Sarah White for more details.

We also offer our annual Males into Primary Teaching conference in April.

The FREE to attend afternoon is dedicated to giving  prospective students generic, unbiased first-hand information and advice on primary teaching through delivery of interactive workshops, meeting current teacher training students and male teachers in the profession.

In the past, this half-day event has offered:

  • Personal statement writing guidance
  • Top tips for interviews
  • Explanation of teacher training routes
  • Insight into teacher training
  • Opportunities to meet current teachers
  • A tour of our campus
