I’m Ellie, and I’m here for you and your students! As a recent graduate from Sports Coaching and Education, I have the most up to date information on life as a student and the pathways through university!ellielewis

Along with my studies a big factor of my university lifestyle was playing sport. With over 30 different sports I quickly and easily found my true sporting passion- which saw me playing at Twickenham and even representing the University in the European Championships in Hungary! Now as a Graduate Advocate for Sport I’m here to help inspire and engage with pre/post 16 students by answering all of those questions about university and all the wonderful and exciting opportunities for up and coming students, especially when it comes to sport!

Let your students experience what it is like to be a sport student for the day, by booking a Sport Taster day with us.

With a number of different taster workshops to take part in, students can explore the different areas to sport at university and see where a degree in sport could take them.

Students will be welcomed with a talk about studying sport, take a campus tour of our accredited facilities and participate in two workshops out of the following:

  • Sports Coaching/Education
  • Adapted Physical Activity
  • Sports Therapy
  • Sports Nutrition
  • Sports Psychology
  • Strength & Conditioning (subject to availability)
  • Physiology

Choosing Courses

Did you know there are over 35,000 university courses? 1,500 of them are sport courses and its never been tougher for a student to find out which course is right for them. Our sport graduate Ellie, has all of the relevant and vital information about courses at university to help inspire your students to choose the course for their dream career. This presentation can also be tailored to include information you want your students to know about, i.e. sport personal statements or student finance.

Why Study Sport?

Have you got students who love sport but are unsure of what pathway to take after school/college? We have up to date knowledge all about sport at Higher Education, whether that’s courses or playing. Ellie aims to inspire students and let them discover what amazing opportunities can be given to them through studying and/or playing sport.

Careers in Sport

Do you have students with an interest in sport at HE but unsure what careers this field can lead to? Or do you want to inspire your students to sport as a viable career option? Using the most recent examples of graduates from university, this engaging and aspirational interactive talk explores the possible careers that sport graduates can take.



There are around 2.4 million coaches in the UK who are gaining coaching qualifications every year. have you got students who are working towards coaching badges or leadership awards?

This workshop is designed for students who want to improve their coaching, and get an understanding of what it takes to become a ‘good’ coach. Taking on a similar structure to a university practical session, students create a session and deliver to their peers. Getting feedback on their plan and coaching technique, students will leave this session with a range of skills and ideas to help improve their coaching.

Following on from the success of Team GB at the Rio Paralympics, this workshop introduces the Paralympic sport Goalball. The students will get hands on with learning how to coach the adapted sport, while picking up tips and guidance on how to coach children or adults with disabilities. This Goalball session typically lasts an hour, however if you would like an extended session, Goalball can be couple with a practical introduction to Sitting Volleyball.


From sexism in sport to the issues surrounding the Rio 2016 Olympics, students will create their own debate in class using their knowledge on sport and how to construct an argument. This workshop can be tailored to suit your teaching modules and cover certain topics you want your students discussing.


An anatomy based workshop where students find out what their feet are all about! Looking into the different bones and ligaments in the feet, students find out how playing different sports may affect the structure of the foot.


All workshops and presentations are approximately 45 minutes to an hour long, but can be adapted to suit your needs.

Each session is available to be delivered to your students at your school or college, at a time which is best for you. Or alternatively, you are welcome to experience these sessions at the University.
